The Adamello in Northern Italy (Southern Alps) is an intrusion with tonalites, diorites, gabbros, etc. The surrounding sediments were heated and transformed in the process, limestone became marble, mudstone layers became hornfels. Fluids penetrated limestones and dolomites in cracks, exchanged elements and led to the formation of silicate minerals such as grossular, diopside and vesuvianite.
