Ko Phi Phi: a dream of an island, so beautiful that it is the exclusive playground of the rich. But the tsunami not only reduced a few resorts to rubble, but also the prices to the affordable. Accordingly, it has become an insider tip for backpackers. While the devastation is still complete on one of the beaches, repairs are being made everywhere and business is slowly getting back on track. Especially the offshore rocky island of Phi Phi Ley, with deeply incised bays and small white beaches is impressive – and perfect for snorkelling.
