A dense network of narrow channels and wide arms of the river crosses the wide plain, lined with mango and other trees, houses on stilts… We travel for hours in a small boat. Above all we visit two floating markets: fruit, vegetables, meat and fish are sold on small rowing boats, sometimes also from small houseboats. A dense crowd, the boats bump into each other again and again, melons are handed over, fish is filleted, blocks of ice are chopped into small pieces… Many of the women wear colourful, wide robes and the obligatory cone-shaped hats.
