The sweat-saturated clothes stick to the body and thick drops drip from the face. Armies of bees and leeches give us a hard time. A horde of monkeys seems to laugh at the fact that we are fighting our way through the dense tropical rainforest in this heat. Huge trees, colourful butterflies… We spend one night in a cave, the other in a village of the Orang Asli (who only come here to hunt and for tourists, otherwise they live in permanent houses…). Another highlight is the Canopy Walkway: swaying suspension bridges that span through the treetops with fascinating views.
On the way here, to the centre of the peninsula, I took the Jungle Train. For ten hours, the greenery passes by the window. Then a good stretch up the brown river in a boat.
