A wonderful caldera lake: Laguna Quilotoa. When I arrive at the circular caldera, there is a heavy thunderstorm, but I am lucky at sunset, the sun shines a little (for the first time), the water turns blue and even the two peaks of Iliniza can be seen in the background. The next day I hike around the lake on the crater rim in a little more than 3 hours, but this time the sun doesn’t want to come out, and the dark grey water is whipped up by the strong wind. Nevertheless, I want to try Cotopaxi next.
