Si Phan Don: near the border with Cambodia, the Mekong widens into a landscape with hundreds of islets and islands. Living here in a simple bungalow is cheap and relaxed, even the villagers spend most of their time (it is the dry and hot season) in the hammock. To cool down, an iced coffee or a jump into the Mekong helps; and if the book is just too boring, a bike ride to a waterfall is tempting. Or rent a canoe and paddle strenuously against the current, or a trip to the river dolphins… Such a hard life! And this is once again one of those places where there are lots of nice people around. Among them are old acquaintances I met in Vietnam or even India.
